About PolyPipe®, Inc.

General Information

PolyPipe® is one of the largest polyethylene pipe producers in North America.

Polyethylene has been in use as a piping material for over 35 years. Why is it often a better solution than traditional piping products? Because it is the best option for highly corrosive, abrasive, or chemical applications where resistance is the chief concern. PolyPipe® is a long-term, cost effective, and permanent answer for your medium and high-density polyethylene piping system solutions.

Our core business in general markets includes applications in:

  • Water and Waste Water
  • Industrial and Mining
  • Natural Gas Distribution
  • Oil and Gas Gathering
  • Landfill

We also participate in the duct and fiber-optics markets, as well as offer hard hose reel irrigation.

PolyPipe® offers its products through master stocking distributors at the wholesale level. We also work with factory authorized agents, OEM trade, and select gas utilities companies throughout the United States and Canada. Plus, we focus on international trade in South and Central America and the Pacific basin.

History

PolyPipe® was established in 1976 in Gainesville, Texas under the name PolyPipe Industries, Inc. Early expansions included the addition of lines in our Gainesville plant and a manufacturing location in Kimball, Nebraska, to service the increasing demand for gas gathering and oil exploration markets.

In 1985, PolyPipe® increased our exposure and reputation to include high density and medium density polyethylene pipe and fittings for broad market segments. Ground was broken for a state of the art plant in Erwin, Tennessee, which included the first large diameter extruder in the USA with capabilities through 54" pipe.

In late 1994, plant additions included Fernley, Nevada, which is just outside the Reno, Nevada area.

In October of 1995, PolyPipe Industries was acquired by CSR, a major producer of concrete pipe and building materials. Facilities included Gainesville, TX, Kimball, NE, Roaring Springs, TX, Erwin, TN, Fernley, NV, and Magnolia, AR. This acquisition positioned CSR PolyPipe as one of the largest polyethylene pipe producers in North America.

In 1996 came the exciting addition of the Sandersville, GA plant.

In 1998, we consolidated the Magnolia and Gainesville plants, constructed a beautiful, new corporate office (Gainesville, TX), upgraded our existing equipment and increased our capacity.

Rinker Materials PolyPipe Division was created in 2001 after a CSR de-merger with its parent company in Australia.

Most recently, acquisition of the PolyPipe Division by The Halifax Group created PolyPipe, Inc. We now have over 28 years of high density and medium density polyethylene pipe manufacturing experience.

It was announced in May of 2005, PolyPipe® would increase the capacity in our Fernley, Nevada location to include the largest pipe currently extruded and produced in North America. This expansion is now complete and PolyPipe® now provides the largest O.D. HDPE, solid wall, pressure rated pipe to 65".

Our latest expansion was recently completed in Evansville, WY in January 2007. This plant is the latest state-of-the-art extrusion plant in the United States offering HDE through 24". This plant is strategically located to service Wyoming, Montana and Colorado for our country's energy resource needs.

We are proud of our excellent reputation in the market place and have many miles of pipe in services ranging from simple single line applications to complex engineered applications of large diameter multi service pressure piping systems.

Our customers deserve and receive superior service and top-notch relationships. At PolyPipe, Inc., we offer a complete customer service department, territory managers, professional engineers to assist in technical services and quality throughout our organization that we feel is unparalleled in the industry today.

PolyPipe and Community Involvement

At PolyPipe®, we know how important it is to participate in the well being of our communities. In Gainesville, Texas, PolyPipe® is a continuous supporter of United Way. We also actively participate in Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society program, and assist the Cooke County local Youth Center. Each of our plants around the US actively supports local charities, youth events and sponsors key events.

We are excited about our involvement with these important organizations, and awards we’ve won validate our commitment to our communities.

Understanding environmental issues that affect our communities is important to us, too. We are members of several organizations and associations that keep us abreast of the environmental guidelines and regulations that affect our industry. Our employees actively participate in such organizations as American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Gas Association (AGA), Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), American Water Works Association (AWWA), and Water Environmental Federal and Technologies, both at the national and regional levels.
